About AzuraCast

AzuraCast: run internet radio stations with AutoDJ, live DJ connections, playlists, listener reports and a public player, all managed from a web interface. Streams are served through the app's HTTPS address - after the first login turn on "Use Web Proxy for Radio" under System Settings > Services.

What you get

  • AutoDJ and live DJs — Liquidsoap AutoDJ with playlists and schedules, plus live streaming from DJ software
  • Everything included — MariaDB, Redis, Icecast and Liquidsoap run inside the app - nothing else to set up
  • Persistent media and database — Station media, the database and backups live on dedicated volumes

What runs

AzuraCast is more than one container. Each becomes an app of its own inside a collection, with its own resources, logs and settings - billed together as one.

  • db
  • azuracast

Storage that survives a restart

AzuraCast is deployed with 4 persistent volumes. They keep their contents across restarts, redeploys and resource changes, and can be resized later.

  • station_data — 50 GB — Station media, playlists and recordings
  • backups — 10 GB — AzuraCast backups
  • db_data — 5 GB — Database files
  • uploads — 2 GB — Uploaded artwork and files

How deployment works

  1. Click Deploy AzuraCast and sign in to your Nexent Cloud workspace (or create one - it takes a minute).
  2. Name the app and adjust CPU, memory and storage if the defaults don't fit; the price updates as you go.
  3. Nexent provisions the containers, their persistent volumes and a *.nexentcloud.com address with TLS. Add your own domain afterwards from the app's settings.

Good to know

  • First visit opens the setup wizard, where you create the admin account and your first station.
  • The database runs as its own app beside AzuraCast, so it keeps its own disk and resources. Its address is already set - leave MYSQL_HOST alone, and never change it after setup.
  • Streams play through this app's HTTPS address once "Use Web Proxy for Radio" is turned on under System Settings > Services. The stream port also gets an address of its own.
  • Live DJ connections (a DJ streaming in from BUTT or Mixxx) need a raw TCP port that a web address cannot carry, so they are not available yet. AutoDJ, playlists, schedules and the public player all work.

Questions about AzuraCast hosting

How much does hosting AzuraCast cost?

$18.77 a month, or $187.72 a year. That covers 2 vCPU, 3 GB of memory, 67 GB of persistent storage and 500 GB of bandwidth, with TLS and an address included. Resources can be changed afterwards and the price follows them.

How long does it take to deploy AzuraCast?

About 5 min. Nexent Cloud pulls the image, attaches the storage it needs and issues a certificate for its address; you do not configure a server, a reverse proxy or a certificate renewal.

Can I use my own domain?

Yes. Every app gets an address on nexentcloud.com with TLS immediately, and you can point your own domain at it afterwards from the app’s settings - the certificate is issued and renewed for you.

Is my AzuraCast data kept when it restarts?

Yes. AzuraCast is deployed with 4 persistent volumes (station_data 50 GB, backups 10 GB, db_data 5 GB, uploads 2 GB), which survive restarts, redeploys and resource changes.

Can I move away later?

It is standard AzuraCast, running in a container from the upstream image - not a fork and not a managed variant. Your data is on a volume you can back up and take with you.
